The Snowing and Greening written larger!

Ulverscroft have acquired the Large Print edition rights to The Snowing and Greening of Thomas Passmore. It's great news, not least because I have to put some books pretty close to my nose to see the print (!), but mainly because it'll be tremendous to see another edition out there. According to Amazon Japan, where the publication date was first released, it's going to be out this June -- in English, not Japanese ... just seems that amazon.co.jp gets these sorts of details before everyone else... yep, I know I'm rambling. It's been a busy weekend, tied to this computer... probably should go now...

Fantastic News Paul! Why is it going to be in English though? Any reason? There are a lot of Japanese who read and write English though - I used to deal with a lot in my old job years ago who were working in the UK. Always seems other nationalities are better at learning English than we are at learning foriegn languages. ( And that's me included! I was always hopeless - It didn't help that at school there didn't seem to be much teaching of grammar back in the 70s and then when they started talking about the subjunctive etc etc in French and German I had no idea what they were talking about - consequently all my grammar excluding the simple stuff is self taught - no doubt it shows at times. Being a heavy reader as a child was my salvation - without that educationally things might have been different.)

I think that's just the nature of Amazon - that all books are publicised around the world, regardless of their language, but that amazon.co.jp is a bit quicker than the others at listing them. Of course, I'd like to think that there is an interest in The Snowing and Greening in Japan, being a fan of Haruki Murakami's writing and the country being relatively close.

I know what you mean about languages and the lack of grammar education back in the 70s. I was glad not to be put through it at the time, but have felt the absence of it on occasion since.

Nice one, Paul! Great news, so let me get this right: TSAGTP is released in Japan, online, in English. i've got that right, haven't I? Fantastic news, and good luck! Who knows where that one might lead to.

Not quite, Gary. I shouldn't have mentioned Japan, but then it was a hurried posting!

It's being published in a large print edition by Ulverscroft, a UK large print publisher. The point I've caused confusion over, however, is that when any new book is listed (as a forthcoming publication on the sites of online sellers, such as Amazon, Blackwells, Fishpond, etc) it always seems to gets listed first on Japanese sites. I'm not sure why that is, but I noticed it too with the PaperBooks edition of S&G.
