London (Foyles, Waterstones, Books Etc)

It's time to upload a holiday snap or two. Had a particularly good day in London (see post below), signing books at the Trafalgar Square Waterstones and Broadgate Circle Books Etc, meeting Tom and Lucy at PaperBooks, and rejoicing over the front-of-shop positioning of The Snowing and Greening of Thomas Passmore as one of Foyles' Recommended Reads. The photo against the backdrop of Big Ben says it all. (There was a time I applied for a job at Foyles, many years ago, when I thought selling books in the day and writing them at night would be an ideal existence, so it was particularly rewarding to see the book sitting proudly there.)

I worked very briefly at Foyles back in about 1987. I believe they've come a long way since then:)

(That's about as subtle as I can get.)

Nice piccy though PB! And how lovely to get to sign your book in London; it must have been a dream come true.

Good going with the subtlety Mrs T!

I couldn't get over how they'd changed since the late seventies. It used to have a warehouse feel about it, although I used to enjoy being lost amongst its pile of books all the same - so many books - and was a fan of Blackwells for similar reasons. Was certainly stunned by the transformation it's undertaken. It's an excellent bookshop these days in every sense, and has a wonderful taste in its Recommended Reads section. :-)
